OUR MUSIC

Our music is arranged for four-part choral harmony.

 

The choir has four sections:

Bass

Tenor

Alto

Soprano

​

We usually sing a cappella. On special occasions we join forces with talented musicians who accompany the choir on a range of instruments.

 

You don't need to be able to  read music to join our choir and participate fully.

 

We do use musical scores with music notation though, so you might pick up a few music-reading skills as you go - or if you have some background in music, you'll have an opportunity to brush up on your forgotten musical knowledge!

Our repertoire includes contemporary, classical, spiritual, folk and traditional music in English, te reo Maori, and a few other languages besides.  It's all about extending our skills and keeping the musical and intellectual cogs turning!

Part of the joy of singing is sharing our music and also stretching ourselves by performing in public at community events, charity fundraisers (busking is great fun!) as well as more traditional concerts.
